Parents are partners with the teaching staff throughout the educational process. They are collaborators, and share responsibility for educational outcomes. They also have the responsibility of protecting their children's rights to appropriate education. By being decision makers and team members, parents also become advocates for their children's educational goals. Families can provide support to one another as well, and become important resources and support systems for others.
