Parents are partners with the teaching staff throughout the
educational process. They are collaborators, and share responsibility
for educational outcomes. They also have the responsibility of protecting
their children's rights to appropriate education. By being decision makers
and team members, parents also become advocates for their children's educational
goals. Families can provide support to one another as well, and become
important resources and support systems for others.
