Picture of GinnyWhat is your educational background?
I am a registered nurse with experience in Pediatrics and Public Health. I coordinate health (physical, mental, dental) and nutrition services for all children. Since health and nutrition are inclusive, my role has not changed.

What other experiences, or staff development has prepared you for inclusion?.
Attending workshops and brainstorming with other staff has helped me broaden my knowledge of inclusion.

What is your job role?
I coordinate health services for all children.

What is your role regarding the inclusive component of the program?
I spend time in each classroom, so children do not go to the "nurse's office." Some of the classroom activities are: Healthy Heart, handwashing, and a visit from a dentist. Each child has height and weight measured at least twice a year and vision and hearing screening once a year.

Nurses have a vital role in education because a child who is not healthy may not have energy for learning.

How has your role changed or have you adapted your role as it relates to the inclusive program?
Any health related services, nutrition, and safety.
