Prairie Meadows Therapeutic Riding Center is a non-profit organization which began in 1989 as a means to enhance the quality of life for children with special needs. The Center provides rehabilitative and recreational horseback riding for children with disabilities in Southeast Kansas. The goal of the Riding Center is to assist each student in achieving their maximum level of independence. In 1997, Prairie Meadows Therapeutic Riding Center started a driving program for our students using wheelchairs. Driving the horse from the cart provides a unique challenge for our students. The benefits from driving are similar to those from riding and this activity benefits children with all type of disabilities. The Prarie Meadows Therapeutic Riding Center is celebrating its 10th year of operation.
