Picture of a head start home visitor and all the children in the class What is your educational background?
I have a Lincoln School of Commerce accounting degree.

What other experiences, or staff development, have prepared you for inclusion?
I worked with ECSE with my son when he was two to five years old for speech. Speech therapy was done in our home. I worked with Early Childhood Support at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, when my son was six months old until he was two and a half. This was at the time he was being treated for cancer at UNMC.

What is your job role?
I am a Home Visitor for a Head Start combination program. I meet with 12 families, three times a month for 1 and one half hours each time and the children come to preschool two days each week.

What is your role regarding the inclusive component of the program?
I plan with the ECSE teacher for the time my combination class is here on Monday afternoons. I team teach with the ECSE teacher.

What were your biggest concerns about participating in an inclusive program?
I didn't have any concerns.

What do you see as the benefits of moving toward inclusive services?
I couldn't have had the success with the children that I have had. It is good for the children and for me. It has been easier to plan home visits as well as classroom time.
