| It is our belief that there
are a number of approaches or paths to working with young children that
offer high quality and accepting environments for children who experience
disabilities. As the two fields of general early childhood education and
early childhood special education become increasingly blended it is important
to become knowledgeable about and respectful of approaches embraced by programs
that welcome all children as members of a diverse community of young learners.
Following are very brief introductions to various early childhood educational
approaches as well as resources for a more in-depth exploration of each
approach.
